Mortal Kombat X SaveGame

Mortal Kombat, predecessor of the nameMortal Kombat X, had an extremely ambitious proposal. If you have missed – happens to the best of us – that title resetou the story of the first three franchise games with a dash of time travel in addition to killing one of the most iconic representatives of the series in a way quite “controversial”, not to say bizarre.

Four years passed before the NetherRealm Studios release the next installment of the series, Mortal Kombat X that came to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 7 and will have versions for PS3 and Xbox 360 soon. The shadow left by the peculiar narrative has become a difficult legacy to be filled. The solution found by extremely friendly Ed Boon and his team was to present a renovation in the cast of fighters, thus introducing a new generation of Earth realm of defenders.

More than that, as the universe in this work of fiction is composed of different planes of existence or kingdoms (Earthrealm, Edenia, Outworld, Netherrealm, etc.), nothing fairer than bringing also new kombatentes competitors from other realms as the land area gained new protectors.

The team consists of Kung Jin (Kung Lao cousin), Takeda (son of Kenshi Takahashi),Jacqueline Briggs (daughter of Jax) led by  Cassandra Cage  (result of marriage between Sonya and Johnny Cage before splitting) are the blood New tasked with the difficult mission of defending our planet and become relevant for the next games.

Without taking into account the “special guests” (Predatorand Jason Vorhees), the game reviewed here brings a total of nine unpublished characters on the show, causing more than a third (35%) of the choices in the selection menu are news even for the most ardent fans of the franchise. As the genus does not usually go easy on inexperienced players, this is an important element in encouraging more people to experience this title.

Like its predecessor, each chapter of the story mode of Mortal Kombat X accompanies a fighter who must win three or four fights against different opponents. The narrative cutscenes blend with Quick Timer Events (not punish if the buttons are not pressed in time) and continues alternating control between the fighters to complete their plot after about two hours.

On the mechanical, the big news is due to the three possible variations for each fighter, greatly increasing the possible combinations and variations of struggles. Each fighter has a fixed base hits, but depending on the chosen specialization, new moves and combos are available. Although not keep up the competitive landscape of Mortal Kombat X, this functionality should. in theory, make the choices of “dolls” into something more strategic.

Another aspect worth mentioning is the robust online part, offering some interesting ways. The average time spent searching for opponents is just a few minutes and the navigation rooms facilitates the bringing together people with the same level as yours. I must confess that during the game the way  King of the Hill (the loser goes to the back of the line and who wins continues), hit a nostalgia, that hot longing for the days of the arcades / neighborhood video stores where the kids met to decide who It was the best in MK II or other fighting game.

Other available mode internet is due to the Factions Wars, divided into five factions (Lin Kuei, White Lotus, Brotherhood of Shadow, Black Dragon and Special Forces) with weekly goals and wins by points to decide which team will be victorious at the end of the week .

Leaving the online part and returning to the single-player mode, MK X also marks the return of Torres with various daily, weekly challenges among other options like survival mode. This mode allows you to test some of the new fighters before deciding to buy them.

The Kripta, option to spend the coins earned during fights to release concept art, as Fatality, Brutality, scenarios, and other additional content, offers an interesting experience. When you select this option, the image of a cemetery is displayed in the first person and must-explore the various environments, looking for items that allow free up new areas (such as Scorpion current to cross a gorge, cut an obstacle with the hat Kung Lao, etc.).

The first plot of the chapter shows a squad led by Johnny Cage (focus of the first part of the story), Blade Sonya andKenshi   Takahashi,  leaving to meet Raiden who is trying to stop Shinnok to corrupt the center of the Earth realm of force.

Then we are introduced to Kotal Kahn, the new ruler of Outworld who took the throne after the fall in combat of Shao Kahn. The events of this part take place about 20 years after the prologue and pincela what we can expect from the script, with comings and “welcome” between past and present, thus expanding the story of the protagonists of that part. Another character that appears next is Mileena, leader of a rebel uprising in order to overthrow the Kahn and take power for themselves.

I congratulate NetherRealm the decision to change the costumes of fighters for less revealing clothing. Compare the clothing worn by Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat and theuniform she wears in Mortal Kombat X. This change makes perfect sense if we consider that Sonya is now general and leader of the Special Troops. The very Mileena, one of the women who always dressed well revealingly (I’m not exaggerating), is using something more “appropriate”.

Fortunately, the importance of women in this title is not only in changing how they dress. Some of the highlights (not will detail here for reasons of: SPOILERS) are made by the fighters. Another detail that should be remembered about inclusion of minorities with low representation in games, is that Mortal Kombat X also has the first gay character in theseries, Kung Jin.

Much has been said and discussed about the voice acting done by Pitty singer Cassie Cage, but despite this failure location for our country, Mortal Kombat X manages to maintain the quality of the story presented in the previous title in the series and even more firm with the main Western representative in the genre of fighting games.
